the job seeker. Learn why employers use applications and what they want
to know; prepare for and avoid knock-out factors: make points and get
interviews. References are a critical, necessary step in the hiring
process: learn to contact and coach your references.

Learn how employers think in order to ace the interview and answer
difficult questions. Discover how to sell yourself as a valuable asset

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION IN THE WORKPLACE:

This is a five day
training session. Course titles are: Identifying Personality
Styles; Key Elements of Communication; Attitudes of Excellent Service;
Essential Practices of Customer Service; Difficult People and Conflict
Resolution; Time Management Skills, Managing Stress and Understanding
Personal Listening Approaches.

FINANCIAL AID PRESENTATION:
Facilitator: Emy Bagtas
This session will explain what financial aid is and how
to apply for it. College of Marin offers a variety of federal and
state programs in the form of fee waivers, grants, loans and part-time
jobs to students. Financial aid provides money for books, fees,
transportation, tuition and some living expenses for students who
qualify.
ASESSMENTS AND TEST TAKING ANXIETY:

This session will explain the services provided by the
Testing Office to new and prospective students who are planning to
enroll at College of Marin. All new and returning students must attend
an orientation and complete the assessment testing to ensure accurate
placement in college courses. This session will assist you in how to
prepare for the tests, including a practice English and Math Placement
testing website.
CAREER EDUCATION PROGRAM OPTIONS:
Facilitator: Letta Hlavachek
This session will provide Information about the many
opportunities available to retrain in entering a new career, upgrading
skills, or to earning Skills Certificates, Certificates of
Achievement, or an Associate Degree. Many different fields of study
will be explained, such as court reporting and healthcare.
GENERAL EDUCATION DIPLOMA (GED) PROGRAMS:
