Instructors, Direct Support Professionals for Adults with Disabilities
Great hours, No nights, no weekends. Monday – Friday, 7 am - 3 pm: $13-15+ per hour to start.
Marin Ventures is an upbeat team work environment with a great staff to client ratio, plenty of resources and daytime hours - with no Nights or Weekends. We are seeking Instructors to work with small groups of developmentally disabled adults. We provide arts, cooking, music, living skills courses and more activities in a well-resourced adult day program center.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys direct support and caregiving and looking for an environment with an education & instructional approach. Work on a team with other professionals providing a variety of services to friendly clients in a structured professional workplace. Share your own interests in cooking, sewing, gardening, music in an instructional setting. You will also drive and/or accompany clients on a variety of outings in Marin County for swimming, bowling, to parks, libraries, and other special events.
Instructors are responsible for teaching and training clients and stays actively engaged with clients during classes and activities. Instructors assist the Program Coordinators with implementing the clients’ Individualized Service Plans (ISP’s) and all program service activities. Our management team provides supervision and direction so Instructors work as part of a team or on his/her own.
What you'll be doing!
Teach and engage in activities reflecting client preferences and ISP objectives.
Support clients’ maximum independence in all activities.
Teach and train clients in employment and independent living skills.
Assist clients with lunch and snacks which includes supervision of eating and drinking, or feeding them, or providing a level of support that enables them to finish meals and snacks.
Assist clients with personal care and hygiene which includes changing adult clothing and disposable undergarments (briefs and diapers).
Takes clients on community outings using agency vehicles, personal car, and/or public transportation.
Complete basic documentation: observation and seizure reports, case notes, data on clients’ goals and objectives, van logs, mileage/expense reports, and administrative paperwork.
Share observations regarding client progress or concerns with Program Coordinators.
Must work in partnership with coworkers during client activities.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often exposed to the public (e.g., client outings) and is required to transport clients to a variety of locations in different settings, primarily within Marin County. The employee may encounter challenging behavior from clients in the form of verbal or physical behaviors.
This position has physical requirements that include driving, physical lifting and transfer of clients, pushing wheelchairs, working outdoors, and wearing latex gloves regularly.
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) or any combination of similar education and experience
Must be 18 years or older
Personality: Upbeat, energetic, takes initiative, dependable, takes pride in work
Must have current valid CA driver’s license and clean driving record for minimum of two years
Insurable under Marin Ventures company insurance
Experience working with people with developmental disabilities
Ability to drive agency vehicles
